They Had Needles, a Sword and a Spoon: Fridley Police Blotter

Police issued citations for possession of drug paraphenalia and a dangerous weapon.

After making a traffic stop on April 7, police cited the occupants of a vehicle that left a known drug location on East River Road for possessing hypodermic needles, a sword and a spoon. The officer released the persons cited at the scene.

  • Police cited the occupants of a vehicle leaving a known drug location in the 8400 block of East River Road for possessing hypodermic needles, a sword and a spoon. 
  • Police recovered a badly damaged, abandoned stroller from the side of the road at Hackmann and Central avenues NE.
  • Police issued a permit for taking a deer killed by a passing vehicle in the 7100 block of East River Road.
  • A complainant reported seeing someone drive past a bus that had its stop-arm extendedat 72nd and Central avenues NE, but the complainant didn't see who was driving.
  • There was almost no damage to either vehicle in a two-vehicle accident at East Moore Lake Drive NE and Highway 65. 
  • A shoplifter took a camera out of its box but left it behind with some clothing in another aisle before exiting WalMart, 8450 University Ave. NE, and jumping a fence. Spring Lake Park police found the suspect, who will be trespassing if he returns to the store.
  • Police picked up a male who was being discharged from Unity Hospital, 550 Osborne Rd. NE, on a Kanabec County warrant. Anoka County jail refused to accept him, so he was transported to the Kanabec County line where a Kanabec County deputy took him into custody.
  • Police cited a driver and had his vehicle towed after he failed to obey a semaphore at University and 73rd avenues NE, slamming on his brakes, leaving 75 feet of skid marks before coming to a stop in the intersection. The vehicle wasn't registered to him and had no insurance. 
  • A vehicle failed to yield to Fridley Fire and Rescue in the 5900 block of Highway 65 when they were en route to a medical emergency with emergency lights and sirens activated.


In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents generally appear in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred.
