Suspected Lurker Brought Home to Mother: Fridley Police Blotter

He was in the vicinity of Target Distribution.

Police found an intoxicated person who had been reported on May 8 as lurking in the area of Target Distribution, 1090 73rd Ave. NE. They brought him home, where his elderly mother took responsibility for him.

May 7:

  • Police gave a girl who was stranded in the 7400 block of East River Road a ride home.
  • Police dispatched to mediate an argument in the 1200 block of Onandaga Way NE arrested and brought to jail a female who fought with officers trying to handcuff her to take her to detox. 
  • An officer gave a verbal warning to residents in the 1400 block of 73rd Avenue NE after a party there the previous night left items littered on a neighboring yard.
  • A complainant reported that someone stole his AT&T iPhone 4 while he was at a party at an address he didn't know but said was behind Unity Hospital.
  • A complainant in the 6800 block of Brookview Drive NE reported that someone enetered his unlocked garage and stole two packs of cigarettes from his unlocked pickup truck. 
  • Someone stole change from an unlocked vehicle in the 700 block of Overton Drive NE, according to a complainant.
  • Police located, arrested and transported to jail a male who a complainant said had assaulted his granddaughter. 
  • An officer cited a woman for misdemeanor theft at Target, 755 53rd Ave. NE, and took her home to an address in Fridley.
  • Police brought one brother from the 4800 block of Third Street NE to jail on third-degree assault and domestic strangulation charges, and brought another brother with facial injuries to Unity Hospital.

May 8:

  • An officer took a stray puppy from the 6900 block of East River Road to animal impound.
  • At the request of the Hibbing Police Department, a Fridley Police officer checked an address in the 6500 block of Central Avenue NE for a stolen vehicle but didn't find it.
  • A caller reported seeing a vehicle in the used-vehicle row at Friendly Chevrolet, 7501 Hwy. 65, with its windows down, and an employee arranged to put the windows up after an officer contacted the business.
  • A car went into the ditch on University Avenue NE at 79th Avenue NE after the driver passed out. There were no injuries and only minor property damage.
  • An officer arrested a male who was sleeping or passed out in a vehicle in the 600 block of Osborne Road NE on outstanding warrants.
  • Police offered suggestions to a complainant in the 1400 block of 73rd Avenue NE regarding a dispute with a contractor who installed and then repaired a fence after a storm damaged it.
