Update (1:36 p.m., Monday): The Fridley Police Department confirmed that they were involved in a search for a suspect this morning. In an email, Lt. Mike Monsrud said:

Fridley Police did assist the State Patrol in looking for a male who ran from a traffic stop near 694 and Main St. Fridley Police did not take anyone into custody.

Jeff Denny, service manager at ., 5311 University Ave. NE, said he saw about 10 squad cars and 15 officers from the Minnesota State Patrol, and the Fridley and New Brighton police.

Denny said police suspected that the male they were after might have cut across the business' property, so they checked "closets and doors and bathrooms" but didn't find anyone there.
