Snow on Car Leads to Trip to Jail: Fridley Police Blotter for Jan. 27

Fridley police took two drivers to jail in separate incidents that began with traffic stops for obscured windows and license plates.

These are selections from police activity reports from Jan. 27 provided by the Fridley Police Department:

  • Police stopped a vehicle in the 6700 block of University Avenue NE because of snow obscuring the side and rear windows, then took the driver to jail due to his lack of a driver's license or other ID and for driving with an obstructed view.
  • Police stopped a vehicle in the 4800 block of University Avenue NE for having an obstructed license plate and then took the driver to jail on a warrant and for driving with a revoked license and revoked license plates.
  • Officers found and arrested a male who fled an apartment on foot as they attempted to serve him with an arrest warrant in the 5200 block of Third Street NE.
  • An officer drove a male who was cold and couldn't get a cab at 73rd and University avenues NE to Cub Foods where a cab was called for him.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 5400 block of University Avenue NE that had been driving on the shoulder for several blocks and arrested the driver for driving while intoxicated and improper lane usage.
  • An officer looked for but did not find in the 7600 block of Meadowmoor Drive NE two runaway juveniles sought by Eagan police. Fridley police later found one juvenile at the location and turned her over to Eagan police.
  • Police sought but did not find a juvenile in the 5600 block of East River Road for making terroristic threats against another juvenile and her baby via text message. 
  • Police cited two females and a male for stealing items at the Menard's store on Central Avenue NE then trying to return them for cash. The male went to Anoka County jail on an outstanding Ramsey County warrant.
  • The resident of an apartment in the 1200 block of Cheri Lane NE told police a visitor who left had been smoking marijuana.
  • Police had a vehicle parked in the 100 block of 75th Way NE towed to the impound lot after an officer tagged it two days earlier as possibly abandoned. 
  • Police took a woman from the 100 block of 83rd Avenue NE to Anoka County jail on a Hennepin County warrant. 
  • Two juveniles shoplifted at the Wal-Mart on University Avenue NE.
  • Police did not find in the 5400 block of Seventh Street NE a man Blaine police were seeking for domestic assault.
