Rollover Crash at Northtown Mall Involved Two Drivers in Their 80s

Thursday incident sent both women to hospital with 'survivable' injuries, police said.

Here are the details on a crash Thursday just north of Fridley outside The Home Depot at Northtown Mall. (.)

According to Blaine Police Capt. Kerry Fenner:

At about 9:25 a.m., a woman driving a van northbound on University Avenue  saw a semaphor turn red but "she couldn't reach brake pedal in time, for whatever reason."

A Buick car traveling through the intersection struck the van broadside, causing it to roll over.

Both drivers were women in the 80s and were transported by ambulance to the hospital with "survivable" injuries. Their cities of residence were Blaine and Coon Rapids.

"We hate to see all accidents, but we really don't like personal injury accidents," Fenner said.
