'Unfounded' Report of Leaking Tanker Car at BNSF Rail Yard in Fridley

All Fridley Fire Department units responded to the reported incident on a 'routine basis.'

Update (8:55 a.m. Sunday): A report of a possibly leaking tanker car at the BNSF rail yard in Fridley near 44th Avenue NE and Main Street NE "turned out to be unfounded," an Anoka County Emergency Dispatch supervisor told Patch.

8:27 a.m.: Anoka County Emergency Dispatch radio confirmed that remaining Fridley Fire Department units are not yet clear of the scene.

8:12 a.m.: Fridley Chief 1 and Fridley Engine 3 will stay on the scene but all other units are clear.

8 a.m.: Police Clips has posted about the incident on Facebook, judging from scanner reports that so far it is "More of a head's up than something to really worry about."

7:49 a.m.: Fridley Engine 1 arriving and staging at 44th and Main.

7:46 a.m.: Fridley Engine 3 arriving and staging at 44th and Main.

7:45 a.m.: Fridley Engine 2 with a full crew arriving. BSNF rail yard employee was not at gate because he was directing police officers. He will return to main gate to meet fire chief.

7:42 a.m.: Fridley Chief One reports no one to meet him at the main gate. Fire units are to stage on 44th Avenue at Main Street NE.

Original post (7:37 a.m.): Fridley Fire Department is responding to a report of a leaking railroad car in the BNSF yard in Fridley at 44th Avenue and Main Street NE.

The incident was reported at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

Winds are almost calm, 1–2 miles per hour, the responding crew was told on Anoka County Emergency Radio.

All units are reponding on a routine basis "for now."

The placard number indicating the tanker car's contents was not yet known.
