Updated: Sheriff's Probe Finds Police-misconduct Charge 'Unfounded'

The allegation came via a television reporter, police say.

The Anoka County Sheriff's department has cleared the Fridley Police Department in charges of misconduct, Fridley police said in a statement released Monday morning.

The charges, which allege that a Fridley officer had a woman remove her shirt that was covering a shoulder tattoo, came to Fridley police via a KMSP-TV reporter, according to the statement.

UPDATE (6:30 p.m., Monday): The Anoka County Sheriff's independent investigation concludes that even if the actions the complainant alleges took place, they weren't illegal. Evaluating the validity of the claims is beyond what Fridley Police requested, said Cdr. Paul Sommers.
