Police Investigate Possible Threat Made Against Northfield High School

Superintendent Chris Richardson says law enforcement investigated a potential threat made against Northfield High School to apparently occur Friday.

Editor's note: The following was sent from Superintendent Chris Richardson to parents of students in Northfield Public Schools.

Good Afternoon,

This morning, Northfield law enforcement shared with High School administration that they received word of a potential threat made towards Northfield High School, specifically about this Friday.

High School administration and the Northfield police investigated the situation thoroughly, following a path of conversations that included 7-10 students and parents. Law enforcement and school administration have determined there was indeed no threat. We share this with you so that you are aware of the situation and the results of the investigation. We also think it is important that you are aware of this in case you hear of other students/parents talking about a potential threat. We encourage you to let them know there is no threat.

Please contact me if you have questions.

Respectfully,

Chris Richardson, Superintendent

Richardson told Patch that the school district requested Northfield Police to have a presence around the district's schools on Monday following last week's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT.

According to Northfield News it was a "Rumor". Who makes these kinds of rumors up? These are not funny rumors to be spreading!!! There are a lot of scared kids and concerned parents. How were these kids dealt with for spreading this kind of a "Rumor"? Shouldn't a message have gone out to parents and students? I didn't know anything about it until reading the paper...what a way for a parent to find out.

The above message was sent to parents via the district's SkyAlert program. That's when we found out about it.

hmm the sky alert thing must not be working because I usually get the messages and I didn't get a thing yesterday.
