Police Blotter: 2-Year-Old Found Swimming Alone

Police returned a 2-year-old to their parents after they were seen swimming in the LiveInn Suites swimming alone after wandering from the room.

A child was returned to their parents after police received a complaint because the 2-year-old was in the LiveInn suites hotel pool unattended on July 11.

The parents were in the hotel, the mom said he was doing laundry when the child wandered out of the room.

Officers explained child endangerment laws to the parents before returning the child to their care.

- Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of 83rd Avenue for a heroine overdose.

- One juvenile was cited after police caught two juveniles smoking marijuana in Hackman City Park. Both had smoked, one had more of the drug as well as paraphernalia in her possession. The two were brought home.

- While visiting a friend’s house a man get upset when the cops were anonymously called with a complaint that people in the apartment in the 100 block of 83rd Avenue were smoking pot. The visitor said he didn’t smoke and opened the door to air the apartment. No citations were noted.

- In the 6000 block of 2½ Street a dispute broke out between roommates. One man said his roommate had started using drugs again and had been threatening. The alleged drug-doing roommate was being evicted shortly.

- No charges were filed after police responded to a call in the 7800 block of East River Road where a woman had been stabbed in the chest. 

- A family argument broke out in the 6400 block of Baker Avenue when a brother said he was going to shoot the family dog who was going to be euthanized. Family members told the officer there was not a problem.

- A call was made to police about a man who was attempting to run over a woman in the 5800 block of 2½ Street. Both people said there was not a problem, but police recovered a baggie with four crack rocks in it from the ground.

- Six meth pipes were taken from a bathroom in a home in the 5400 block of Main Street. Police were called after a friend found one pipe, no residue was found on them and they were destroyed.

July 8

- A man who had urinated on himself was taken to Ramsey County Detox from the 8200 block of University Avenue. He was unable to care for himself and a PBT test revealed a blood-alcohol content of 0.25.

July 9

- A naked female lying outside her vehicle in the 71oo block of Central Avenue was taken to the hospital for evaluation because she was "extremely intoxicated."

- A report of vandalism came from owners of a home in the 100 block of Craig Way. It appeared 2-3 eggs were thrown at the home and "it was a sticky mess."

July 11

- Four spools of copper wire and a copper pipe were stolen from inside new construction in the 8400 block of University Avenue at Walmart. The pipe was hidden under a tree outside and a suspect came back to get it.

- An officer responded to the 5400 block of Central Avenue on a report that a male was defecating on the grass. No witnesses or evidence of the act was found and two people were asked to leave.

- K-9 dog Nitro helped officers find a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a dresser in a bedroom in a home in the 12000 block of Oak Park Boulevard. The call was part of an assist to the Anoka-Hennepin Drug Task Force.

July 12

- Applebees received counterfeit currency but there was limited suspect information.

- A female overdosed on heroin and was transported from a home in the 5800 block of East River Road to the hospital via ambulance.

- A 34-year-old man was found dead in a home in the 5700 block of 3rd Street. The medical examiner, crime lab and the county responded to the scene.

July 13

- A loud argument in the 5800 block of East River Road was the source of a complaint to police. The police learned the argument was with a woman and two men who were disagreeing over a card game. The men had left before police arrived.
