'Plaid Shirt' Robber Who Hit Fridley Bank Sentenced

The bank robber known as the "Plaid Shirt" or "Flannel Shirt" robber got nearly the maximum 20-year sentence in federal court last week, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Joseph Paul Young of Rogersville, MO, was of stealing approximately $1,196 from in Fridley in 2007 as well as robberies at three other Minnesota banks.

On October 4, Young was sentenced to 220 months in prison for the four robberies, with 120 months of the sentence to be served consecutively with his sentences for bank robbery from two other states: South Dakota and Virginia.

The Fridley Police Department participated in the investigation along with the FBI and three other local law enforcement agencies.
