PHOTOS: Rear-end Crash Sends Cars onto Different Streets in Fridley

A collision on University Ave. sent the rear car onto the parallel Service Rd.

It started out as a typical rush-hour fender-bender in Fridley: One car smashes into another from behind in heavy northboud traffic.

What made the accident at 5 p.m. Wednesday different was where the vehicles ended up, according to Fridley Police Officer Chris McClish. The car in front moved from the right lane over to the left lane. The vehicle behind careened across the grassy ditch and came to rest on University Avenue Service Drive, parallel to but east of Hwy. 47.

An Allina ambulance was on hand for the short trip a couple blocks east to Unity Hospital, but McClish said injuries were minor and no one went.

The Fridley Fire Department also responded to what Anoka County Emergency Dispatch reported as a personal injury accident.

By 5:30 p.m. both cars were gone—the one on the Service Drive with the crumpled front towed away.
