Officer Pulls Over 11-Year-Old Girl

After a girl almost hit an officer's squad car she is pulled over and reveals she's running away from home. She was cited for driving without a license.

An officer pulled over the driver of a vehicle after it almost struck his squad car at the intersection of Central Ave. N.E. and Highway 65 on July 1.

The driver was an 11-year-old girl who “was running away from home and driving to California,” according to the complaint.

She was reportedly suicidal and was taken to the hospital after the vehicle was towed.

Other items in the police report include:
June 30:
A 12-year-old boy was riding his bicycle on Moore Lake Drive headed toward Fridley High School when he saw two other males in a tree near the concession stand. After spotting the other boys, he was shot at and struck four times with what looked like a handgun style pellet gun, according to the police report. All the impacts were sustained in his bike helmet so luckily he was not injured. An investigation is pending.

A woman in the 6500 block of River Road reported her iPod and laptop computer were stolen. The report came after the woman had a man over, whose name she did not know and she met in an online chat room. He reportedly came over for sex and to do drugs, which they did, before she took a nap. When she woke up her things were missing but police had no suspect leads.

A woman was taken to jail for DWI after she was stopped at University and 53rd avenues. She was originally stopped for failing to stop at a traffic control signal, she was given a blood-alcohol test and registered a 0.16 while driving with two children under the age of 16 in the vehicle.

July 1:
A Duluth man was told to stop disrupting traffic at the corners of 81st and University avenues. Police were called to check on him because he was approaching cars and talking to drivers. He told police he was asking for money and looking for a job.

Two adult men were taken to jail for trespassing on the BNSF Railroad property in the 4200 block of East River Road.

An officer pulled over the driver of a vehicle after it almost struck his squad car at the intersection of Central Ave. N.E. and Highway 65. July 2:
Police helped a man who had fallen out of his wheelchair and struck his head while in the 200 block of Mississippi Street. He was taken to
Unity Hospital where his wheelchair was brought to him by police.

Police responded to call in the 6500 block of Channel Road where a man and woman were fighting over $20. Both were told to leave each other alone.

An elderly woman called police from the 6300 block of Central Ave. saying she was being held against her will. Upon arrival the officer learned the woman was suffering from mental health issues by staff and family members.

LiveInn Suites employees requested police talk to a guest who left a hand gun in a hotel room. No violations were found but officers asked hotel staff to let them know when the guest returned to the room so they could tell the gun owner to store the gun in a place that won’t
alarm housekeeping.

A man called police to report a craigslist.com ad for a Fridley resident looking for “magic mushrooms” under the “strictly platonic” link.

A possible domestic case was called in at University and 73 avenues but officers were told by both parties “they were playing.”

July 3:
In the 8400 block of University Avenue a woman was advised by an officer that she could not leave her dog in a vehicle. She had no previous violations so she was given “a stern warning.”

July 4:
A man was stopped for speeding at the intersection of Interstate 694 and Main Street. He admitted to drinking and failed field sobriety tests. His blood-alcohol content measured at 0.10 and he was booked in jail.

After officers were unable to determine a “primary aggressor” a boyfriend and girlfriend pair were transported to different hospitals to
treat facial injuries after getting in a fight in the 5300 block of 5th Street.

When fireworks landed on a man’s wife’s car in the 5100 block of Horizon Drive he called to complain. No damage was done but the officer spoke to the suspect.

July 5:
Officers were called to Unity Hospital to contain a snake. It was contained and taken to Springbook Nature Center.

There was no available suspect information for counterfeit money being exchanged at Dominos, 7510 University Ave. A fake $10 bill was brought to the restaurant the day prior but a specific time was unknown.

Complaints were made from the area of Benjamin Street and Rice Creek Road for loud and disturbing fireworks. Officers drove through the area several times but didn’t locate the disturbance.

July 6:
A man on Sylvan Lane complained about yard vandalism. Toilet paper was thrown in the trees and forks, pencils and toothpicks were stuck in the yard while paint was splattered on the front door. There was no available suspect information.
