Officer Aids Twin Toddlers Locked in Car: Fridley Police Blotter

A door tool helped police free the pair.

An officer freed twin 18-month olds who had been locked inside a vehicle, to the great relief of a complainant. The children were fine, and there was no damage caused to the vehicle. The April 19 incident took place in the 700 block of 53rd Avenue NE.

April 18:

  • Police stopped a vehicle in the 7500 block of University Avenue that had been braking erratically and swerving, found the driver to be intoxicated, and arrested the driver. 
  • An anonymous male turned over a woman's wallet he said he had found in the 8100 block of University Avenue NE.
  • Police took a female to jail from the 1000 block of 52nd Avenue NE after she kicked officers responding to a noise complaint against her.
  • A male party reported he believes that as he while removed his jewelry at Bally's U.S. Swim and Fitness, 7200 University Ave. NE, his ring fell to the floor and an unknown person later picked it up.
  • Fridley police and railroad agents could not locate a female reported to be crying and lying on the railroad tracks near the 6100 block of East River Road.

April 19:

  • Officers responding to a fight in a apartment-building hallway in the 100 block of 83rd Avenue NE arrested two individuals on multiple charges.
  • Police took custody of a two-year-old boy found outside without clothes on after there was no answer at the door of the boy's home.
  • A female reported that she had given permission to take money from her bank account to a company that she recently learned does not exist. The company took $1,800 over an 18-month period.
  • Police issued a citation for jaywalking to a pedestrian at 53rd and University avenues NE who had earlier been begging for money.

April 20:

  • A complainant told police her former friend was harassing her by disparaging her on Facebook. Police determined it was not criminal but told the other party to have no more contact.
  • Steam set off a fire alarm at Unity Hospital, 550 Osborne Rd. NE.
  • A female reported harassing phone calls from her ex-husband, who is serving in the military overseas. She has a temporary restraining order against him but it hasn't been served, and she does not request charges against him at this time.
  • A caller said she suspects her ex-boyfriend of putting food in her gas tank last week.

In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents generally appear in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred.
