License Tabs Taken: Fridley Police Blotter for Jan. 31–Feb. 2

A complainant said someone peeled the 2011 tabs off her vehicle's license plates.

This is a selection of police activity for Jan. 31–Feb. 2, drawn from information provided by the Fridley Police Department.

Jan. 31:

  • A vehicle left the scene of an accident at University Avenue and Mississippi Street in which a signal pole was broken off its base. 
  • Bags of clothing samples went missing after break-ins in the 7700 block of Beech Street NE in which two vans suffered broken windows.
  • Someone threw eggs at a residence in the 1600 block of Gardena Avenue NE.
  • At the Fridley Fire Department's request, an officer cited the resident of an apartment in the 5400 block of Fifth Street NE for removing a smoke detector.
  • Police arrived at the site of a hold-up alarm in the 500 block of Osborne Road to find the alarm company conducting tests.
  • An officer advised a woman in the 1000 block of Hathaway Lane NE not to blow snow into the street.

  • Police jailed a suspect who a complainant in the 7300 block of Taylor Street NE said had beaten him unconscious and taken money from his pocket.
  • Hours after receiving a trespass notice at Fridley Middle School, a male returned to the school, resulting in a citation issued at his residence.
  • Police arrested a man for theft in the 7200 block of Highway 65 and, after interviews with detectives, took him to jail on traffic offenses, financial transaction card fraud and theft.
  • A complainant in the 1000 block of North Circle said she just noticed that someone had removed the 2011 tabs from her vehicle's license plates.
  • A complainant in the 7100 block of University Avenue NE said she believes an unknown man at the next table in a bar took her cell phone.

Feb. 2:

  • Police escorted a complainant to retrieve tools from a former job site in the 5500 block of Matterhorn Drive NE, where a homeowner agreed to hand over the tools in exchange for the complainant cleaning work-related debris.
  • An officer served a woman with a harassment restraining order at Hayes Elementary School.
  • Police arrested a juvenile in the 6700 block of Kennaston Drive NE for a probation violation, at the request of the juvenile's probation officer.
