Missing: Family and Friends Seek News of Dirk Paaverud of Fridley

Police not yet officially listing him as missing person.

Family and friends of Fridley resident Dirk Paaverud say he hasn't been seen since Saturday and are asking for help locating him. Lanae Paaverud posted a flyer (see PDF) on Facebook (at the Fridley Cancer Cluster page) with this note:

"My brother-in-law, Dirk Paaverud (Fridley resident), hasn't been heard from or seen since Saturday morning! He was last seen in Fridley, then Coon Rapids on Sat. ... We want him to know that 'everything is ok, please call or come home or check your email.'"

Asked about Paaverud, Lt. Mike Monsrud said by email Wednesday police are waiting until the end of the week to consider listing him as a missing person, and couldn't vouch for the flyer information and photos:

"His family reported that he has not been home or made contact with them since last Saturday 5/12. ... We have a KOPS alert on him in case any law enforcement comes in contact with him. He is not officially a missing person yet, as he is an adult and there is no sign of any foul play. There is no history of suicide threats or drug problems at this time. If he still has not contacted his family by Friday 5/18 we will consider listing him as a missing person."
