Man Found Badly Hurt by Hwy. 65 Still Critical, Police Say

Anoka County Sheriff's Office will give update on his case Monday.

The mystery of the man found critically injured along Hwy. 65 in Fridley Saturday continues to confound investigators.

The man, who authorities have not identified except by age (23), was found lying in a snowy ditch in the 7300 block of Hwy. 65 at 3 a.m. Saturday with a traumatic head injury and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center according to the Star Tribune.

Fridley Police Lt. Mike Monsrud said that according to the latest information he had seen, the man was still in critical condition and not able to speak or tell anyone what happened.

"We're waiting for him to get better," Monsrud said by email Monday morning, adding that the Anoka County Sheriff's Office was taking the lead on the investigation.

Anoka County Sheriff's Office Cmdr. Paul Sommer said by email at noon Monday that his agency would have an update on the case later in the day.
