Mailbox Photographer Said He Wanted to Buy One Like It: Fridley Police Blotter

The stranger also took photos of the house.

Police determined no crime took place after a stranger took photos of a house in the 1000 block of 67th Avenue NE. He also took a picture of the mailbox because, he told a resident of the house, he wanted to purchase one like it. Police advised the resident to call if she observes further activity from the photographer.

  • Someone used a counterfeit bill at McDonald's, 244 57th Ave. NE.
  • Two men in a verbal fight over a parking space in the 5400 block of Seventh Street NE agreed their spat got out of control and apologized after officers arrived. 
  • A resident of the 1400 block of Gardena Avenue NE recognized a phone scam and hung up on a female caller who claimed to work for the power company and to need his Visa card number because he hadn't signed his last check to pay the electric bill.
  • A male caller told police someone took his credit card information and used it to buy three laptops.
  • A woman held for shoplifting at Target, 755 53rd Ave. NE, gave police a false name and date of birth. Fridley Police Reserves took her to the Anoka County jail.
  • A caller from the 1500 block of N. Timber Ridge NE told police several watches and a necklace went missing after friends visited.
  • A police officer crawled through a window of a mobile home in the 7400 block of Oakley Street NE to let in a female resident who was locked out. 

April 17:

  • Police responded to a robbery at Two Stooges Bar and Grill, 7178 University Ave. NE.
  • Police responded to Mississippi Street and University Avenue NE to assist a heavily intoxicated male whose brother said had consumed too many beers while in a hot tub. The intoxicated male was transported to Unity Hospital.
  • Two small dogs ran away from a residence in the 700 block of 58th Avenue NE.
  • Police warned a male pedestrian who crossed the road at 53rd and University avenues NE against the traffic signal.
  • A caller reported that a friend responded to his attempts the night before at giving advice about girlfriend troubles by punching him several times in the face.
  • Someone broke into a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 100 block of Longfellow Street NE and stole loose change and a pack of cigarettes.
  • A soldier currently serving in Afghanistan reported the theft and fraudulent use of his credit card.
  • A dog that got away from its owner attacked a juvenile in the 300 block of Ironton Street NE but did not cause injuries.
  • An officer responded to Unity Hospital, where a male told police he had been stabbed, but there was no credible information on a suspect.

In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents generally appear in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred.
