Kohner Joining Fridley City Fire Department

Matt Kohner, a veteran in the fire fighting field, is joining the Fridley Fire Department as assistant chief. 
Kohner's imminent arrival comes on the heels of the Fridley City Council recently appointing him to the post. 
According to Fridley City Manager Wally Wysopal, Kohner's experience includes fire marshal at the city of Ramsey since 2008. He also has been a firefighter and assistant fire chief in the paid on-call division since 2002. 
In 2000, Kohner was the Forest Lake fire inspector;  from 1991 to 2006, he worked as a production manager at Micro Control in Fridley.
Wysopal said that Kohner is currently working on getting a technical degree in  fire protection.
