UPDATED: Missing New Brighton Teen Found Safe

Update (6:30 p.m. Wednesday): Will Michael Ricci, the 16-year-old from New Brighton who went missing last Friday, was found safe Wednesday afternoon, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported:

Cellphone locator technology, along with leads provided by the teen's friends, helped New Brighton and Mounds View police find Will Michael Ricci just after 1:30 p.m., according to New Brighton Police Chief Bob Jacobson.

He reportedly had been staying at the homes of two of his former football teammates before one of his friends told police of his whereabouts, said Manuel Rodriguez, Ricci's stepfather.

He was found in an abandoned trailer.

"It is a huge relief," Rodriguez said. "But now comes the second part of figuring out what the problem is and all that kind of stuff."

KSTP-TV reported the family has a next step in mind:

Will Ricci's mother, Janet Rodriguez-Ricci, tells KSTP he will be taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

She also says the news coverage was the "trigger" that caused people to call in with tips.

Original post (8:40 a.m. Wednesday): A 16-year-old New Brighton boy is missing and police are asking for your help in finding him.

Will Michael Ricci hasn't been seen since the early morning hours on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012.

According to a Missing Person Alert from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (see PDF):

Will is [white,] 5’11”, 165 pounds with dishwater blond hair and grey-blue eyes. It is believed he was wearing tan pants and a brown/black Columbia parka.

Ricci's mother, Janet Rodriguez-Ricci, spoke to KSTP-TV on Christmas Day: 

"As a mother, yes, it's terrifying and it's devastating to not know where your child is. ... Will is treated for an Anxiety Panic Disorder and he is without his medication. ... And we don't know if there was a silent storm brewing inside of him.

"We are very worried. We are not expecting a good outcome at this point. ... We're aware that our faith is the very meaning of this holiday. And that Christ comes to us in very dark places."

Rodriguez-Ricci also told KSTP she saw no signs or clues her son was upset or might leave before he went missing early Friday morning, when she found his bedroom window open and his bed made "perfectly."
