Fridley Woman on the Lam after Jacking U.S. Marine Corps Car, Police Say

Police are searching for a suspect from Fridley in a string of thefts in Burnsville—including taking a vehicle issued to the U.S. Marine Corps. 

A warrant was issued after Fridley resident Tonya Annamae Losh, 33, who authorities have identified as living in Fridley, after she missed a court hearing on Oct. 30.

Losh was one of two women who allegedly went on a spree in Burnsville's Heart of the City area in early October, breaking into cars in a parking ramp before reappropriating a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu belonging to a U.S. Marine Corps recruiting center and driving it to Fridley. Police found Losh and accomplice Sarah Elizabeth Burrington, a 27-year-old Minneapolis resident, with the help of the stolen car’s GPS unit.

The two were charged with three felonies:

• Car theft, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine
• Theft and first-degree criminal damage to property, each of which has a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine

Burrington pleaded guilty on Nov. 27. She was convicted of car theft and first-degree property damage. The third charge, theft of movable property, was dismissed. Judge Robert King, Jr. sentenced Burrington to 17 months in the women's prison at Shakopee, but stayed the sentence for the duration of her 10 year probationary period. Instead, Burrington was ordered to spend 90 days in jail, with credit for 58 days already served.
