Fridley Police Blotter: July 28 to Aug. 3

Highlights include everything from drug overdose and domestic violence to burglary and bail bondsman.

July 28

  • Officers were dispatched to the 7100 block of University Ave. NE at the request of a bail bondsman. Upon arrival, it was learned the bondsman "lost the female suspect with a felony warrant." 
  • Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Mississippi St. NE for a burglary in progress. Suspects fled southeast but were not located.
  • Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of 71st Ave. NE on reports of vandalism. A county park ranger reported damage to two cement garbage cans and a power outlet 
  • Officers were dispatched to the 13000 block of Martin St. NW to help find two missing children. The children left a note saying that they were leaving and not coming back. FPD and the Anoka County Sheriff's Office located the children shortly after arrival.
  • Officers arrested a man in the 100 block of 44th Ave. NE. The man had two confirmed warrants from Hennepin County and 1 extraditable warrant from Georgia. He was transported to Anoka County Jail.

July 29

  • Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of 73rd Ave. NE for a property damage report. Unknown suspect(s) hit the resident's front flower bed causing damage with a vehicle. Also reports suspicious people walking in his driveway overnight. 
  • Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of 53 Ave. NE for two dogs left inside a car with the windows only slightly open. The dogs looked to be in distress. Officers opened the car and removed the dogs until owner arrived. Owner was cited for animal cruelty. 
  • Officers were dispatched to the 5700 block of 2nd St NE on a warrant pick-up request from the Department of Corrections. One person was taken into custody and transported to jail.

July 30

  • Officers responded to the 1500 block of 60th Ave. NE for a house fire. Officers arrived and learned the fire started in the master bedroom. Fridley fire department arrived on scene and put the fire out. 
  • Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of 69th Ave. NE for a man having difficultly breathing. Officers assisted the victim until paramedics arrived. The male was transported to Unity Hospital by paramedics.

July 31

  • Centennial Lakes PD requested a K9 Unit to the 9000 block of Dunlap Ave. to assist in tracking a suspect that fled on foot. FPD was advised the suspect was wanted for felony domestic assault and interfering with a 911 call. Suspect surrendered to officers.
  • Officers were dispatched to the 5100 block of Horizon Dr. for a robbery in progress. Two suspects were taken into custody and a man was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.
  • Officers were dispatched to the 6300 block of Central Ave. NE to assist Allina paramedics with a dementia patient requiring transportation to Unity hospital. Female patient had been threatening to assault staff members and would not cooperate with staff directions. 

Aug. 1

  • Officers were dispatched to the corner of Mississippi St. NE and University Ave. NE where a van struck a child on a bicycle in the intersection, then left the scene. The female driver was found and information collected. The victim was not located. It is unknown if the bicyclist was injured.
  • Officers were dispatched to the 5800 block of 2nd Ave. NE for a staged burglary and attempt to pawn stolen items. The suspect was located and caught in the act by a family member who reported it to police. The property was recovered and investigation is pending.
  • Officers were dispatched to the 5900 block of Central Ave. NE for a large tree that had fallen on the resident's home. Upon arrival, the gas meter and power lines appeared to be intact. 

Aug. 2

  • Officers were dispatched to the 7500 block of University Ave. NE for a report of a man that overdosed on pills. A crisis hold was signed and he was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
  • Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Charles St. NE for a domestic dispute. Officers determined a male assaulted his girlfriend. The man was arrested and transported to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. 

Aug. 3

  • Officers were dispatched to the 5700 block of Main St. for a burglary that occurred overnight. Officers found that the suspect forced entry into the business by prying open a door. They also found that a flat panel television was ripped off the wall mount bracket and removed from the premises.
  • Officers responded to a complainant who reported that her stolen credit card was used by an unknown person at the Fridley Menards, at 5351 Central Ave NE. Report forwarded to Investigations unit.
  • Lino Lakes PD requested a K-9 Unit to the corner of Ash St. and Hodgson Rd. to assist with a narcotics sniff of a vehicle. The K-9 alerted the officers to a purse on the rear seat. Officers located three hypodermic needles and an unknown small crystal substance. Officers also located $500 in meth on the owner of the purse.
