Fridley Police: 3 Were Home During Lynde Dr. Break-in

Adults didn't awaken while someone took TV, laptop, purse and vehicle.

Updated below. It may have been a case of "if at first you don't succeed" for whoever cut screens at two homes in the 1100 block of Lynde Drive NE in Fridley overnight.

At one home no one actually gained entry, police said Wednesday. But at the other home, an intruder or intruders made off in a vehicle taken from the residence with a TV, a laptop computer and a purse.

Whoever it was did not awaken three adults sleeping there, according to Fridley Police Lt. Mike Monsrud:

Sometime last night between 2330 and 0500 someone attempted to enter a residence in the 1100 block of Lynde Dr by cutting a screen to gain entry into the residence. Entry was not gained into that residence. During that same time someone gained entry into another residence in the 1100 block of Lynde Dr. by cutting open a screen to gain entry into the residence. Once inside, the suspect (s) removed personal property from the residence including a large TV, a laptop computer and a purse. The suspects then left in a vehicle that was taken from the residence. There were 3 adults sleeping in the home at the time of the burglary. Nobody was awakened by the burglary and it was not discovered until the residents woke up the following morning. The missing vehicle is a black 2005 Cadillac Deville MN license SLH840. Anoka County crime lab processed the scene for evidence. The incident remains under investigation by the Fridley Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Ryan George at 763-572-3635.

Update (10:45 p.m. Wednesday): Later Wednesday the Fridley Police Department released a Crime Alert for these incidents, which includes safety tips (see the PDF).
