Fridley Man Sentenced to 16 Years For Slew of Armed Robberies

Terry Lamar Roberts, 23, of Fridley and Theodore Julius Collins, 26, of Minneapolis, were sentenced to 16 and seven years in federal prison, respectively.

A Fridley man was sentenced to 192 months in prison on Dec. 14 after U.S. District Court Judge Donovan W. Frank convicted of him of possession of a firearm to commit a violent crime and robbery in connection with the armed robbery of an E-Z Stop gas station in Jan. 2011.

According to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Terry Lamar Roberts, 23, of Fridley, pleaded guilty in April to robbing the gas station at gunpoint and fleeing the scene in a waiting vehicle driven by Theodore Julius Collins, 26, of Minneapolis.

Collins was sentenced to seven years after being convicted of possession of a firearm to commit a violent crime and admitting to driving Roberts to the E-Z Stop on Jan. 12.

The release also says, as a condition of his plea bargain, Roberts admitted to robbing several businesses between May 2004 and Dec. 2010. The businesses include:

  • Corner Store, Richfield
  • Foley Foods, Coon Rapids
  • Texas Tonka Liquor Store, St. Louis Park
  • Super 8 Motel, Brooklyn Center
  • O'Reilly Auto Parts, Brooklyn Center
  • Top Diner, Minneapolis
  • Bill's Superstore, Minneapolis
  • Pizza Man, Crystal
  • E-Z Stop Gas Station, New Brighton (2010 & 2011)
  • Domino's Pizza, Plymouth

Because the case was prosected in federal court, parole is not and option and Collins and Roberts will serve the entirety of their sentences.
