Fridley Apartment Fire Near Unity Hospital Extinguished Quickly

An apartment fire near Fridley's Unity Hospital was put out quickly by firefighters from four cities Tuesday afternoon.

It only took firefighters minutes to put out a blaze at an apartment building near Unity Hospital Tuesday afternoon, Twin Cities FireWire is reporting.

Crews from four cities—Fridley, Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View(SBM), Columbia Heights and Saint Anthony—responded to the fire around 1:30 p.m. after 911 callers reported black smoke coming from a second-story apartment at 610 Osborne Road.

After the bedroom fire was extinguished, firefighters venitlated adjacent apartments, according to Twin Cities FireWire.

Katie Hogan, a Fridley resident, said she saw a yellow salvage tarp at the apartment building.

"Lots of fire fighters, and only two EMTs," she wrote in an email. "A lot of the guys were taking the coats off as it was so warm."
