June 13

Police were dispatched to the 100 block of 66 ½ Way NE on a report of kids playing “ding dong ditch” in the area. Police were unable to locate the youths.

A staff member at the Fridley Lifetime Fitness called police at 9 p.m. to report a theft from a car parked in the business’ parking lot. The rear window had been broken out, but according to the police report, “it appeared from the size of the hole that nothing was able to be taken from the vehicle.”

June 14

Police assisted a quadriplegic resident from the 400 block of Mississippi Street NE who had gotten tangled in their heating pad and began to have an anxiety attack. On arrival, officers helped untangle the resident, got them a drink of water, and readjusted their heating pad before leaving.

Unknown bandits made off with two outboard motors from boats parked overnight in a lot on the 5200 block of 3rd Street NE.

Just before 5 p.m., police stopped and arrested an adult male for “driving away from a scrap metal pile” next to the railroad tracks off of Osborne Road NE. Police also towed the man’s car. The man was trespassing on railroad property, according to the police report.

Just before 7 p.m. an officer stopped to help a stranded motorist push her stalled vehicle from the 7200 block of University Service Drive to a nearby gas station.

 

June 15

Shortly before 5 a.m., a resident of the 6600 block of East River Road called to report a strange man standing on his deck, peeing, and trying to open the patio door. The suspect was gone by the time police arrived.

 

June 16

Police received a complaint about “partially contained” cats on the 7400 block of Taylor Street NE. The police report was not specific about how a “partially contained cat" is defined.

A resident of the 6200 block of 6th Street NE called to report a suspicious letter sitting on their doorstep, with a needle sticking out of the envelope. Upon investigation, the “needle” turned out to be the pin from a button attached to a Father’s Day card tucked inside the envelope. The caller asked police to dispose of the card and button since they did not know who the car belongs to.

A parked car was stolen from the lot of an apartment  building on the 5900 block of East River Road NE around 9:30 p.m.

 

June 17

Fridley Police responded to a report of some children stranded without a motor in Islands of Peace Park. The Hennepin County Water Patrol and Fridley Fire Department were able to effect a rescue without police assistance.

 

June 18

Police helped the Spring Lake Park Police Department search for a robbery suspect on the 8100 block of University Ave NE. The suspect eluded capture.

An officer discovered a car parked at the North Star station on East River Road  with its rear passenger side door opened and an iPad sitting on the car’s seat, showing the North Star Rail schedule from Fridley to Target Field. As neither the iPad nor the car were listed in the state database of stolen property, the officer locked the vehicle and left a note for the owner.

A man and a woman stole an iPhone 5 from Sam’s Club around 9 p.m.

 

June 19

At 8:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the 6300 block of Highway 65 NE on a report of a man sleeping behind a business. The man said he was homeless and “just trying to find a place to sleep.” Police told the man to leave and never return.

Police responded to a burglary report on the 7400 block of West Circle.
