Copper Water-access Covers Go Missing: Fridley Police Blotter

According to a complaint, someone keeps taking the covers to a building's water access that the fire department uses in case of fire—apparently for the copper.

Someone has been stealing copper water-access covers from a building in the 100 block of 83rd Avenue NE that the fire department needs in the event of a fire, according to an April 6 complaint.

Here are other items selected from information provided by the Fridley Police Department:

April 5:

  • A complainant reported $2,000 from cashing a child's Social Security check was missing from a dresser drawer in the 5800 block of Second Street NE.
  • A medical transport driver reported his backpack went missing and when he recovered it from one of his riders, most of his property was gone.
  • A complainant said the U.S. Post Office wasn't resolving the problem of damage to his mailbox by a mail delivery vehicle in a timely manner.

April 6:

  • An officer issued a citation for equipment violation after seeing a vehicle leaving Moon Plaza with a furnace and water heater that turned out to have been taken without consent.
  • A caller reported that someone broke into the candy machine on the first floor lounge of the Unity Professional Building, 500 Osborne Road NE.
  • A male who injected heroin and passed out across the front seat of a vehicle in a parking lot in the 5600 blok of University Avenue NE was taken to the hospital.
  • A complainant told police he believes people are hacking into his laptop while he is at the Mississippi Branch Library, 410 Mississippi St. NE. 
  • A manhole was uncovered at Sixth Street and 61st Avenue NE.

In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Incidents generally appear in the order in which they were reported, not necessarily the order in which they occurred.
