Brooklyn Park Fire Receives Mutual-Aid Assistance from Fridley Firefighters

A Saturday evening house fire in nearby Brooklyn Park brought in mutual aid from several communities and sent two firefighters to the hospital.

A house fire in nearby Brooklyn Park on Saturday evening quickly required the assistance of several neighboring fire departments, including Fridley.

The call of a fire at a home on the 100 block of 75th Avenue North in Brooklyn Park came in about 6:34 p.m. Sept. 1, according to Brooklyn Park Deputy Fire Chief Seitz. Upon arriving at the home, firefighters found the "attic and roof on fire of a vacant home that had just been in the process of being sold."

"The fire appeared to start on the exterior near the roof," he said.

, Brooklyn Center, Coon Rapids, Columbia Heights, Osseo, and Anoka- Champlin were all called in to assist. The location of the fire was directly across the Mississippi River from Rice Creek and in Fridley.

Two Brooklyn Park firefighters were sent to North Memorial Hospital, according to Seitz, and have both have been released. One was transported due to respiratory issues and the other was struck by falling debris.

Investigation continues in to the fire, although Seitz indicated the focus is electrical.
