Man Found Hurt by Hwy. 65 Wasn't Struck by Vehicle, Anoka Sheriff Says

Authorities seeking black Cadillac Escalade in connection with the case.

A man found Saturday at 3 a.m. lying along Hwy. 65 in Fridley with a bad head injury wasn't struck by a vehicle, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office said in a news release Monday afternoon.

Still authorities are seeking information about a driver and vehicle in connection with the case:

  • A 2007–2012 Black Cadillac Escalade with fresh rear end damage
  • A black male driver about 5’-8″ with short hair

The victim hasn't been identified beyond his age of 23 years. He remains hospitalized in critical condition, Fridley police said Monday morning.

Here is the full text of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office news release:

On 12/08/2012 at 2:35 AM Officers of the Fridley Police Department were called to Highway 65 at 73rd Avenue NE, on a report of a male with injuries on the side of the road. The case was initially thought to be a motor vehicle v pedestrian accident, but after further investigation this is no longer the case.

The male was transported to the hospital where it was determined that he had suffered head trauma, but no other injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating any witnesses to this incident. We are also looking for information on a possible vehicle of interest related to this case. The possible vehicle is described as a 2007 – 2012 Black Cadillac Escalade with fresh rear end damage. The driver of the vehicle is believed to be a black male about 5’8″ with short hair. Anyone with information regarding this case or this vehicle is asked to contact the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office at (763) 427-1212.

There is no further detailed information that will be released at this time regarding the identity of the victim or the circumstances of the alleged vehicle’s involvement.
