All 21 retailers passed the Fridley Police Departments alcohol-sales compliance check, according to a statement issued Thursday.

If a business had failed the alcohol compliance check they would have faced penalties including;  individual employees as well as the business are subject to administrative penalties for illegal sales. For individuals the penalty for a first violation is $250.00; a second violation within 12 months is $500.00 and a third violation with 12 months is $750.00. For the licensed business the penalty for a first violation is $500.00; a second violation within 12 months is $1,000.00 and a third violation with 12 months may result in license revocation. In addition to administrative penalties, individual employees who serve or sell intoxicating liquor, 3.2% malt liquor, beer or wine to an underage youth may be charged criminally.

The City of Fridley conducts regular compliance checks with funding from the Minnesota Institute of Public Health through the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Program of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety
