After Riverbank Pursuit, Police Find Suspect

The chase went through backyards on River Edge Way in Fridley Wednesday evening.

A police pursuit in Fridley Wednesday evening ended with an assault suspect from Minneapolis in jail in Anoka after being arrested in Coon Rapids.

River Edge Way resident Linda Borman witnessed the chase and reported by email to Fridley Patch:

Multiple Fridley Officers and K9 unit were chasing a man on foot through our backyards and neighborhood on River Edge Way this evening around 6:30pm. They were tracking him north along the river. Not sure what he did, but there were 4 squads and an ambulance in the Stevenson Elementary parking lot.

Fridley Police Lt. Mike Monsrud had more details in an email message Thursday morning:

On 9-7-11 at 1808 Hrs Fridley police responded to a domestic assault situation in the 6000 block of E River Rd. Officers arrived and located a female victim with some facial injuries. The victim told officers her boyfriend had assaulted her and fled on foot. The female was treated by Allina Paramedics for her injuries and officers attempted to locate the male suspect. The suspect was eventually located and arrested at a residence in Coon Rapids. He was placed under arrest for domestic assault and transported to the Anoka County Jail where he remains pending formal charges. The case remains under investigation by the Fridley Police Department. The suspect is a 36 year old Minneapolis man.
