3-Vehicle Crash Kills Fridley Man in Big Lake Township

Ronald Talbot was dead at the scene Thursday morning, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office.

A crash involving three vehicles Thursday morning in Big Lake Township left a Fridley resident dead, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office.

Ronald Talbot, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened just before 10 a.m. near the intersection of 211th Avenue and County Road 15, a statement from the sheriff's office said.

The drivers of the two other vehicles—Blane Travis, 52, and Donna Travis, 54, of Elk River, who are married—were taken to area hospitals with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. (Donna Travis was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital and Blane Travis was taken by ambulance to New River Hospital.)

The sheriff's office said the cause of the crash remains under investigation but gave this account of what happened:

Talbot had been traveling North on 15 while Blane and Donna Travis were both driving their vehicles Southbound. The vehicles driven by Talbot and Blane Travis struck each other head on before Talbot’s SUV made secondary contact with the SUV driven by Donna Travis.
