Coupon Counsel: How to 'Stack' Your Coupons

A coupon "stack" is, literally, a stack of coupons you can use at your store on one item. See some examples of how I will stack coupons at Target this week.

If you check out out the Sunday Red Plum and Smartsource coupon inserts today, you will find some great deals this week! In addition to the great deals, there are a few printable coupons on Target.com you can stack with the manufacturer coupons you cut from your paper.

A coupon "stack" is, literally, a stack of coupons you can use at your store on one item. Most stores, like Target, will accept one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon. Detailed below is an example of how I stack manufacturer coupons from this weeks paper along with Target coupons I printed online:

Smartsource: Hershey’s milk chocolate 6 pack $1/2
Target Coupon: $.50/1
= $1.50/2 Packs

Red Plum: Lipton tea bags, To Go, or any iced tea mix $.40/1
Target Coupon: $1/2
= $1.40/2 Lipton Items

Red Plum: Tums 24ct+ $1/2
Target Coupon: Tums 36ct+ $1/1
= $2/2 Tums

Red Plum: Dove Men+Care antiperspirant or deodorant $2/1
Target Coupon: $2/2
= $4/2 Dove Men+Care

Red Plum: Dove hair care product  $.75/1
Target Coupon: Dove shampoo, conditioner or hair spray $2/2
=$2.75/2 Dove hair care

Red Plum: POND’S cream, towelettes or cleansing product $1/1
Target Coupon: POND's facial care item $2/2
=$3/2 POND's

Smartsource: OFF! Area products $3/2
Target Coupon: $2/2
= $5/2 OFF!

As you can see, stacking coupons can double your savings!

Target coupons can come and go on their site so it is important you print the coupons, on items you use the most, as soon as you can. Sometimes they linger for a few weeks with a long expiration window and other times they stay for a day and disappear!

Also, don't forget to check out Target's weekly ad and sign up for mobile coupons if you have a smartphone.

Good luck and happy shopping!
