Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts: Greek Revival Architecture

Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts is a great example of Greek Revival Architecture, exhibiting more than a few characteristic elements of the style. Learn more here.

Our building is a great example of Greek Revival Architecture. While this style grew in popularity across Europe beginning in the mid-18th Century, it didn't really catch hold in America until the early 19th Century, right when our building was constructed. 

The building includes multiple characteristics indicative of the style, including pedimented gables,  a tripartite entry, a thin brick chimney, and six-over-six double-hung windows.
