Fridley Dance Team Heads to State Championships

The Fridley High School Dance Team Jazz and High kick sections have advanced to the State Championship competitions! The 36 member Fridley Team won second place in both High Kick and Jazz during the competition against 13 other schools in the 2AA section held February 9, 2013 in North Branch. The top three teams advanced to the state semi final championships to be held February 15-16, 2013 at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

The judges of the dance competitions are looking for (Jazz dance): difficulty of skills (leaps, jumps, flexibility), best execution of skill technique, best choreography (which is done by the team), best presentation, difficulty of choreography, timing as a team and more and kick technique, kick height, and kick difficulty (for High Kick). The Jazz competitions will be held on February 15, while the High Kick section will compete on February 16. If the Fridley team scores among the top six performance, they will advance to the state championships.
