Webber Park Library Closed Indefinitely

Hennepin County Library – Webber Park, 4310 Webber Pkwy., Minneapolis, will be closed indefinitely while structural engineers complete their review of what caused ceiling tiles to buckle and fall to the floor last week while the library was occupied by staff and patrons.

The preliminary findings by a structural engineering consultant indicated that settling along one of the building's walls is ongoing. For the safety of the public and staff, Webber Park Library will remain closed until it is determined that adequate structural repairs can be completed. To that end, Hennepin County Library staff are taking steps to assist Webber Park Library patrons at other nearby locations.

Hennepin County Commissioner Linda Higgins said, “We appreciate everyone’s concerns, including the Friends of the Webber Park Library and patrons who are so valuable to this important community asset. We ask that everyone be patient while the engineers are conducting their review.”

Webber Park Library patrons are encouraged to visit North Regional Library, 1315 Lowry Ave. N., or Northeast Library, 2200 Central Ave. N.E., during the closure. Materials on hold for patrons at Webber Park Library will be available for pickup at North Regional Library.

Patron requests with Webber Park Library as a pickup location will be changed to North Regional Library automatically, but patrons may choose an alternate pickup location by accessing their library account online at www.hclib.org under “My Account.” For help, patrons may contact staff at any library location or online via the Library’s Ask Us service: www.hclib.org/askus.

Updates will be posted on the Hennepin County Library website at: www.hclib.org/locations.

The book drop at Webber Park Library is closed. Books may be returned to nearby Hennepin County Library locations including North Regional, Sumner, Northeast, Rockford Road and Brookdale, or any Hennepin County Library location.
