Stand Up, Fight Back: Garcia Family BBQ

Join us on Saturday to learn more about the Garcia family's fight with Wells Fargo and how we're going to stand up and fight back to stop their imminent eviction. Please bring food and chairs to share!

The Garcia family bought a house when their daughter was born in 2000. They paid their mortgage for nine years. When Mr. Garcia lost his job in 2009, they asked for a modification. They were denied. Unable to keep up with their rising payments, the Garcias continued to send in what they could while getting help from a loan counsellor. Wells Fargo refused to modify the loan and stopped accepting the Garcias’ payments. Wells Fargo lost their paperwork and didn’t return their calls. Now the Garcias are facing eviction on August 28.

The Garcias deserve to stay in their home. They have built a community and a network in their neighborhood, and their daughter loves her school. If they lose their house, they will not be able to send their daughter to college. The house is their legacy.

The Garcias' story is one of millions. Wells Fargo is responsible for the most foreclosures in Minnesota. Instead of working to keep families in their homes, the bank evicts, leaves the house vacant, and then flips it to another buyer. Wells Fargo made record profits last year by forcing families out of their homes and communities and into unstable living situations.
