Winter Storm Draco to Have Mercy on Fridley

The coming snowstorm will be a near miss to the south of the Twin Cities.

Looks like the weather gods, Mayan or otherwise, decided to be friendly to Fridley this time.

Fridley and most of the Twin Cities metro area will just miss getting another big dump of snow as a major winter storm—dubbed Winter Storm Draco—just misses us in the coming days.

Folks a few dozen miles south and east of Fridley, however, are bracing for the worst, as Northfield Patch detailed Wednesday.

The National Weather Service advertises it as the "First Major Winter Storm of Season to affect Central Plains and Upper Midwest" (see second thumbnail).

But if it is the first major storm, what was the 13.6 inches of snow that fell on Fridley Dec. 9, 2012, during what The Weather Channel christened Winter Storm Caesar?
