Riverfront Park Boat Launch Closes as Mississippi Rises

Anoka County closed the boat launch at Riverfront Regional Park in Fridley late Tuesday afternoon due to high water on the Mississippi River.

The county closed two other boat launches Tuesday in response to a rapidly rising and swiftly moving river. The closures are temporary.

County staff was evaluating the Riverfront Park launch at about 4 p.m., according to an Anoka County tweet. At 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Anoka County Parks spokesperson Jennifer Fink said by email: "They are continuing to monitor and will do another assessment early this evening."

At 4:46 p.m., the county issued a tweet that Riverfront's launch too was closed.

Parts of the park have been closed along East River Road.

The Mississippi River's rise after recent rains has prompted the along much of its length in the greater Twin Cities area.
