On TPT: 'University Avenue: One Street, A Thousand Dreams'

Nice documentary at 8 p.m. Tuesday ... but ever hear of University Avenue NE?

Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) airs a new documentary about University Avenue on Tuesday evening, but don't tune in expecting to see much about Fridley—or maybe even anything at all about the street north of the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis.

University Avenue: One Street, A Thousand Dreams appears to be focused on the St. Paul stretch of the street, spurred by excitement over the new Central Corridor light rail transit line.

An interactive map on the documentary's website highlights only businesses and other landmarks along the five miles of University Avenue in St. Paul.

Oh well—if a documentary ever did pay attention to the 15 miles of University Avenue NE that runs north from Northeast Minneapolis through Fridley to Bunker Hills Regional Park, which landmarks would you include?

  • Moon Plaza?
  • Springbrook Nature Center (close enough)?
  • Fridley City Hall?
