In-town Eagle Sightings 'Special,' Says Springbrook Director

Director of Fridley's Nature Center hails nearby, once-rare birds.

At one time an unusual sight, eagles are becoming more common in the Twin Cities, including around Fridley.

That's what Director Siah St. Clair told the Star Tribune for an article about the eagles' return to the metro area.

A nest along Highway 10 has attracted particular attention, St. Clair said:

"We had at least 30 people stop or call about the Highway 10 nest," St. Clair said. "It is so easy to see the birds there. It's special." He said the eagle activity was aided by a warm winter that left the river open for them to fish, instead of flying south in search of open water.

St. Clair told Fridley Patch earlier in the week that the that rely more on the lengthening days to judge the season.
