UPDATE: Amidst Heat Wave, Power out for 200 in Fridley, Columbia Heights

Xcel Energy predicted electricity would return at 11:36 p.m. Monday.

Update (1 a.m. Tuesday): Two Fridley customers remain without power, according to Xcel Energy, after a steamy evening in which as many as 200 in Fridley and Columbia Heights lost electricity.

Update (10 p.m. Monday): Resident Tami Diehm tweeted to Fridley Patch just before 10 p.m. that power at her home had returned earlier than expected.

Xcel Energy's online outage map still shows about 200 customers without power in Fridley and Columbia Heights.

Original post (8:30 p.m. Monday): Nearly 200 customers in Fridley and Columbia Heights lost power Monday evening and won't have it back until about 11:30 p.m., according to Xcel Energy.

The outage started shortly before 8 p.m. and was centered in the southeastern corner of Fridley and adjoining areas of Columbia Heights.

The utility estimated it would have electrical service restored to 197 customers by 11:36 p.m.

There were also scattered outages affecting five other customers in parts of Fridley, Columbia Heights and Minneapolis Monday evening, with restoration estimates ranging from 9 p.m. to midnight.
