Fridley Foundations Open House started tonight

The Fridley Housing and Redevelopment Authority, in the past 12 months, has purchased two houses for the Home Improvement Demonstration Program. The addresses of the homes are 4757 2nd Street and 831 Mississippi Street.

Open houses for 4757 2nd Street are scheduled each Wednesday in August from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and open to the public. The house at 831 Mississippi has been sold.

Part of the program included etensive remodeling and three open houses for residents. The open houses were to show the before, during, and after transformation of the homes and showcase how some remodeling projects can be done inexpensively by utilizing the Reuse Center in Minneapolis or liquidators to obtain materials.

"The improvements in each house serve as a roadmap for updating Fridley's housing stock. We hope the neighborhoods will experience the benefits of investing in the community for years to come," according to city officials.
