Fridley City Council Adds 3rd Day for Deliberations on Hiring City Manager

Discussion and selection now set for Sunday afternoon. Interview sessions start Friday evening.

The process of hiring a new Fridley city manager can now go to Day Three, after a new post at the City of Fridley website Friday morning announced a Sunday session for the Fridley City Council's deliberations: 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that there will be a special meeting of the Fridley City Council on Sunday, April 7, 2013, commencing at 12:30 p.m. for the following purposes:  

1. Discussion of City Manager selection process;

2. Discussion regarding City Manager position finalists and selection of City Manager.  

Said meeting will take place in Conference Room A of the Fridley Municipal Center, 6431 University Avenue N.E., Fridley, Minnesota.

Earlier Schedule
The Fridley City Council had earlier scheduled its interview sessions with nine finalists and hiring discussion for Friday and Saturday. Those sessions are set to start at:

  • Friday, April 5, 2013, 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 6, 2013, 8 a.m.

"A light meal and refreshments will be served" at each session, according to notices posted at the City of Fridley website. The interviews will take place in Conference Room A of Fridley Municipal Center.

Here are the agendas for the sessions.

Friday:

  1. Discussion of City Manager selection and interview process;
  2. Finalization of interview questions for the City Manager position finalists;
  3. Interview of City Manager position finalists; and
  4. Discussion regarding City Manager position finalists.

Saturday:

  1. Discussion of City Manager selection process;     
  2. Interview City Manager position finalists;     
  3. Discussion regarding City Manager position finalists and selection of City Manager.

  • Michael A. Ericson
  • Matt S. Fulton
  • Brian W. Heck
  • Scott J. Hickok
  • Darin R. Nelson
  • James C. Payne
  • Patrick Wussow
  • Walter Wysopal

Wysopal was also a finalist for Burnsville city manager this week. That job went to Heather Johnston, Burnsville's chief finance officer.
