UPDATED: Fridley, Anoka County No Longer under Tornado Watch

Anoka County could see stormy days through the weekend.

Update (11 p.m. Tuesday): The tornado watch is over but thunderstorms will persist through Wednesday morning and may continue every day through the weekend, according to a Hazardous Weather Outlook from the National Weather Service.

Update (8:15 p.m. Tuesday): Anoka County could see thunderstorms in the next 30 minutes, according to a Severe Weather Statement from the National Weather Service:

THUNDERSTORMS MOVING INTO/DEVELOPING OVER ANOKA...HENNEPIN... SHERBURNE AND WRIGHT COUNTIES THROUGH 845 PM CDT... AT 754 PM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE RADAR WAS TRACKING STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM 5 MILES NORTHEAST OF ELK RIVER TO ALBERTVILLE TO 4 MILES NORTH OF ROCKFORD. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING EAST AT 40 MPH. PEA SIZE HAIL AND WINDS UP TO 50 MPH ARE EXPECTED WITH THESE STORMS.

At 8:08 p.m. Tuesday the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northeast Anoka County until 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. (Fridley is in southern Anoka County.)

Original post (6:15 p.m. Tuesday): At 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for 17 counties in Minnesota, including Anoka County.

The watch is in effect until 1 a.m. Wednesday.

An earlier Hazardous Weather Outlook from the NWS that included Anoka County warned of possibly severe thunderstorms and a "tornado threat."

Media reports of tornadic activity Tuesday as of 6 p.m. located it well north of Fridley and the metro area.
