Updated: Fire Strikes Home at Fridley Terrace Manufactured-home Park

No one was hurt in the blaze at an unoccupied residence.

Fire hit a home in the 1000 block of North Circle NE at the manufactured-home park Saturday night. No one was hurt, according to Sgt. Rick Crestik of the Fridley Police Department.

A neighbor reported the fire at 9:27 pm. and police arrived two minutes later to find heavy smoke at the unoccupied home, he said. They soon saw flames inside the residence, Crestik said, and neighboring residences were evacuated.

The scene was cleared at 11:33 p.m., according to Crestik. Twin Cities Fire Wire reports it took crews about 15 minutes to put down the fire, with handlines bringing water from Engine 3.

The Fridley Fire Department is investigating the blaze, he said.

Fires occur occasionally at Fridley's manufactured home parks. "I've been to a couple of them," Crestik said.

The Fridley Terrace fire comes a week after a fire at another north-metro manufactured-home park took a life.

A man died April 10 in a fire at a residence in a manufactured-home park in Blaine.

"But not in this one," Crestik said.

Update (8:30 a.m. Sunday): By morning light, the manufactured home at 1079 North Circle NE showed evidence of Saturday night's fire-fighting: a scorched exterior, piles of pulled-out pink insulation, a blackened pillow in the grass, and a faint smell of smoke in the air.

But neighboring residences didn't appear to have sustained damage, and the home that burned looked to be intact.
