Coupon Forger Got Cheap Haircut: Fridley Police Blotter

The fraudulently financed trim saved the suspect nine dollars, according to a complaint.

A male suspect used a counterfeit coupon to get a $14 haircut for only $4.99 in the 1000 block of East Moore Lake Drive NE, according to a complaint. The male suspect did not even leave a tip, the complainant said. Police advised the complainant ab0ut possible options for a civil remedy.

April 8:

  • An officer stopped a male riding a bike with no lights who appeared to be casing vehicles to break into in the 5800 block of Second Street NE. The bicyclist had an active gross misdemeanor warrant for assault and was arrested and jailed without incident.
  • A complainant said someone took her purse from her vehicle while it was parked at the Springbrook Nature Center, 100 85th Ave. NE, and used her credit card at the nearby Target store to make a fraudulent purchase.
  • Two juveniles were spray-painting property in Commons Park, 555 61st Aven. NE. One was released to his grandmother; the other will be charged with damage to property.
  • People who were being loud in their garage in the 200 block of Christenson Way NE agreed to shut the garage door and be more quiet.

April 9:

  • An officer responding to a report of an abandoned baby squirrel in the playground in the 600 block of Osborne Road NE transported the squirrel to Locke Park and released it in a wooded area.
  • An officer responding to a report of a dead fox in a backyard in the 200 block of Rice Creek Terrace transported the red fox's body to Public Works for proper disposal.

  • Police stopped a vehicle for failure to signal a turn, discovered an open bottle in the vehicle, and cited the driver and passenger for several violations.
  • A caller reported that a former friend called his cell phone and wanted to fight at a park.
