UPDATED: Thousands Lose Power Southeast of Fridley

A downed line was to blame. Most customers had electrical service restored by 7:50 p.m. Saturday in Columbia Heights, St. Anthony, New Brighton and Minneapolis.

Update (8 p.m. Saturday): Equipment failure—a downed power line—left as many as 3,700 Xcel Energy customers without electricity Saturday evening for more than an hour. But the line is back up, according to an Xcel spokesperson, and the major outage, which lasted one hour and 12 minutes, is over.

About 80 customers still without power may have to wait until about 10:30 p.m. or later, according to Xcel's online outage map.
