Columbia Heights Heritage Tower Dedication

Columbia Heights held the dedication for the Columbia Heights Community Heritage Tower on Wednesday, May 29, in spite of the threat of rain. The Heritage Tower is located in the round-a-bout at the intersection of 39th Ave and Jefferson St, near Huset Park.

The Tower was designed by art students from the Columbia Academy and Columbia Heights High School. Students were given four themes: Diversity, Recreation, Education and Labor. From these topics and several discussion, focus groups they came up with the designs for the four sides.

The city is still accepting donations for the tower and and Legacy Garden through July 14. Bricks can be purchased for $100 or $60 and engraved with you name or in honor of someone. Mayor Peterson said he hoped to have the dedication for the Legacy Garden in August.

Donations can dropped off at city hall or they can be posted online at Razoo:  http://www.razoo.com/story/Heritage-Tower
