Take a Digital Tour of the Revamped Southdale Center

The nation's oldest indoor shopping mall has undergone some serious renovations. Take a tour of the facility, courtesy of Southdale officials.

Just in time for holiday shoppers, extensive renovations at Edina's iconic Southdale Center are nearly complete.

The mall has been open for business all along, of course, but Southdale officials provided an early glimpse of what the shopping center looks like following the $19 million project. Enjoy this early gallery of photos, courtesy of the Southdale Center Facebook Page.

Those teal pyramids are part of Macy's storefronts, not the mall.

What a waste of money! Very ugly and sterile. Looks like an airport or hospital!

I agree - send me the 19 million - I will spend it AT Southdale - rather than ON Southdale. That will improve their bottom line.

Boring white walls and floors. Boring light fixtures in areas that could be a showcase for artistic, focal-point fixtures. The white tile floors will be hard to keep clean-looking. The armless, minimalist furniture does not look comfortable or inviting, and the orange and chartreuse upholstery colors are a fad that will very quickly look dated. Can you tell I'm disappointed? I would be less upset if the mall owners had paid for this rather than millions of Edina taxpayers' money.
