Fridley's Shortstop to Provide Shuttle, Free Cab Rides Home Beginning Thanksgiving Eve

Police will be out in full force this weekend enforcing DWI laws. The Fridley Bar and Grill will provide free cab rides to all patrons on Thanksgiving Eve through Saturday night.

With , one Fridley establishment is going the extra mile to make sure its patrons get home safely.

The Shortstop Bar and Grill in Fridley—and their original Coon Rapids location—will provide customers free cab rides home from the bar beginning Thursday, regardless of whether they've had anything to drink.

The reason? The Shortstop "considers our customers family," according to manager Ryan Bassick.

Because the two bars share patrons who like the ambience of both, they will be providing a shuttle between the two locations on Thanksgiving Eve.

And when the night is done?

"If they need a ride home, we'll pick up the tab for the cab," said Bassick.

Wednesday night through Saturday between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m., Shortstop has made arrangements with a local cab company to provide rides home within a 2 mile radius, with the passenger only needing to tip the driver.

"If the ride is over 2 miles, you're not out of luck, you'll just need to pay the difference," Bassick said.
